KwaTerry – Local Dining & Nightlife in Harare

Escape the Harare Hustle: Your Ultimate Day-Trip Guide to KwaTerry
Looking for a break from the fast-paced Harare lifestyle, KwaTerry Restaurant and Lodges is the ultimate rural tourism escape. Additionally, this hub in Turf, Mhondoro Ngezi (Village 6) was founded by Terence “Terry” Maphosa, a farmer and entrepreneur. Before you head out, plan your journey with our Getting Around Harare guide, Visit Harare.
- Authentic Farm-to-Table Food: Savor proper Zimbabwean comfort meals cooked the village way over open wood fires. The absolute star of the menu is their freshly prepared, legendary free-range “roadrunner” chicken. Pair it with steaming sadza rezviyo (millet sadza) and freshly harvested organic greens.
- Aggro-tourism & Culture: Visitors can explore a booming rural enterprise. Take a tour of the local horticulture, see the free-range poultry setups, and learn about sustainable goat farming.
- Village-Style Accommodation: For travelers who want to extend their day trip into a weekend getaway, KwaTerry offers comfortable, beautifully thatched traditional lodging for a completely peaceful rustic overnight stay.
KwaTerry is located approximately 150 kilometres southwest of Harare (near the Zimplats mine).
- The Route: From Harare, take the main Bulawayo Road (A5). Drive down to the Selous roundabout and make a left turn. From there, follow the direct road all the way into Turf Ngezi, where clear local signage will point you straight to the village restaurant.
- Road Conditions: The vast majority of the drive from Harare via the A5 highway and down through the Selous turn-off is smoothly tarred and fully accessible for standard saloon cars or small vehicles. You do not need a heavy-duty 4×4 to reach Turf Ngezi. Keep an eye out for standard highway tollgates on the A5, and expect brief, well-maintained dirt paths only as you make your final turn into Village 6
